At Light Hiking Gear, the impact of our footprint on the environment is important to us. We make products that last as long as possible, focusing on improving the durability of our products without increasing weight.

Our aim is to change the material cycle from Cradle-to-Grave, and instead to adopt the “Cradle-to-Cradle” principles espoused by William McDonough and partners (see www.mbdc.com). So, we use 100% recyclable materials; we eliminate any toxic materials from the cycle; and we replace non-biodegradable materials with biodegradable ones as they become available.

We have a 3 year guarantee on materials and workmanship to the original purchaser, and we offer a low cost repair service.

Additionally, we aim to:

  1. Recycle all recyclable materials used in the business, instead of sending them to landfill.
  2. When the product has finished its working life, we ask that you return it to us. We will disassemble it and recover all reusable materials.
  3. As biodegradable materials become available which meet our performance and durability criteria, we will adopt them.
